The Old Canal takes its name from the Grand Canal, which once ran as far as Mountmellick — right behind this building. Turley's already had a 'Canal End' on its east side. We're keeping that respect for place, and the people who gather here.
The Verdict
“There was a great atmosphere in the small but cosy bar, and the solid fuel stove was keeping us warm with a bucket of turf on either side. The Guinness was excellent — so much so we didn’t hesitate in ordering rounds two and three.”

The Courtyard

Out the back, a sun-trap of old stone, brick and planting — long tables for a crowd, small ones for two. Turf and a stove inside when the weather turns.
